Student Recruiter

Office of Outreach and Recruitment

Below, you will be able to glimpse into my experience at Los Angeles City College (LACC) as a student recruiter, from working on acclimating students back into the college setting during welcome week to visiting various high schools encouraging students to apply to the college. This experience gave me valuable insight into many marginalized populations as the institution is composed of one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation. In my time at LACC I was paired with their Educational Opportunity Program and Services department, where I assisted with special projects, such as their semesterly visits to four-year institutions, advisory committee (consisting of on-campus and off-campus partners), and their achievement ceremony.

My position at LACC was my first assistantship within my master's program and first student affairs based position post-undergraduate degree. This experience allowed me to better understand the greater significance and impact of my role as a student affairs professional. I began to make connections between my academic coursework and daily work, especially dealing with such a wide variety of students (traditional to non-traditional).
